Tasks
- Supervise laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists and other professionals
- Provide advice to senior managers and officials
- Conduct biostatistical data analysis using computer modelling techniques
- Supervise biological technologists and technicians and other scientists
- Produce reports
- Conduct research in biotechnology to discover, develop and refine, and evaluate new products
- Conduct research into the structure, function, ecology, biotechnology and genetics of micro-organisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and algae
- Produce newsletters, magazines and other documents
- Conduct literature reviews
- Co-ordinate multidisciplinary projects
- Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia
- Monitor and compile research results
