Product Development Associate

The Product Development Associate provides support for product development activities associated with development and commercial product projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and execute laboratory scale batches
  • Provide support to the formulator in the preparation, documentation and execution of laboratory scale batches and engineering batches.
  • Perform sampling as part of cleaning verification and cleaning validation activities
  • Provide floor monitoring of manufacturing and packaging processes, when required.
  • Participate in problem solving and investigation of PDS batches and cleaning activities.
  • Provide support to project managers
  • Draft forms, procedures, manufacturing and packaging sheets, protocols and reports required for the smooth running of the PDS department.
  • Coordinate and carry out the PDS Lab inventory
  • Participate in the creation, execution and closing of change notices and CAPAs
  • Provide assistance to other product development production activities.

Skills and experience required :

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry), or a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry), or a related discipline, from a Canadian university or a degree recognized by a Canadian university or accreditation body as being of equivalent level in a scientific field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Practical experience in semi-solid forms and/or development processes and/or cleaning verification
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience in formulation (an asset)
  • Dynamic and able to multi-task
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Canadian (Health Canada)
  • Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA guidelines and safety measures
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on precision
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (English and French, written and spoken)
  • Strong problem-solving and technical writing skills
  • Mastery of safety concepts and process methodology
  • Flexible and able to adjust to PDS process schedules
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook).
