Job Description

Salary : Between $80,000 and $106,000 annually

Reports to : The Assistant Director in the Presidents Department.

Status of Employment : Permanent, Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Makivvik's involvement in federal affairs and at federal tables, including the Inuit-Crown Partnership Committee tables and related Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and Inuit Circumpolar Council committees with working groups including Nunavik organizations and cross-over issues with the Governments;
  • Administrative responsibilities (not limited to; budget, contracts, funding application submissions, staff oversight, briefing notes);
  • Working on various priority files, including drafting briefing documents and summary reports, and coordination of work to be done;
  • Liaising with federal government and Inuit governments and regional organizations and federal matters as needed;
  • Developing and supporting Nunavik Inuit positions;
  • Preparing for and attending meetings;
  • Working with other Senior Managers in the Organization;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.A or equivalent;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related field;
  • Excellent communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Great knowledge of: Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a team leader;
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
  • Inuit and cultural knowledge and understanding is required;
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills, the capacity to work autonomously and a great team player.
