Contract Details

  • Contract Duration: 12 weeks (Summer 2025)
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Compensation: In accordance with the Federal Government's Summer Youth Employment Program
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Position Summary

The Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in planning, promoting, and executing a range of community events during the summer. This includes family festivals, lunch programs, children's activities, and intergenerational events. The coordinator will work closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure events are well-organized, accessible, and fun for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of summer events, including Street-Fest, Family Fun Nights, and children's summer programs.
  • Coordinate logistics such as scheduling, venue setup, equipment rental, and supply management.
  • Develop promotional materials (flyers, social media content, event signage) and assist with community outreach.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various events.
  • Liaise with vendors, entertainers, and partner organizations.
  • Ensure events meet safety and accessibility standards.
  • Evaluate events and provide a final report with recommendations for future programming.

Qualifications

  • Passion for community development and working with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Creative problem-solver who is flexible and adaptable.
  • Experience in event planning, marketing, or community engagement is an asset.
  • Bilingual (English / French) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
