About the Role

At RNDSQR, we’re reimagining urban living by delivering high-impact Missing Middle infill housing projects that transform communities. As a Development Associate, you will be a critical force in scaling our business and driving projects from concept through completion.

This isn’t a technical role—it’s a leadership and management position in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be the manager of managers—the conductor of the orchestra—coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects that make a meaningful impact both for our company and for Calgary’s housing market.

If you’re coming from an adjacent industry like hospitality, event management, operations, logistics, or military, and you’re ready to pivot into a leadership track within real estate development, this is your rare chance to help build a small business and shape the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage consultant teams (architects, engineers, contractors) through every stage of Missing Middle infill projects, from permitting to construction completion.
  • Own the orchestration of timelines, budgets, and project delivery—ensuring each piece moves in harmony, on time, and to spec.
  • Identify challenges early, develop solutions, and keep projects moving forward with clarity and accountability.
  • Act as the linchpin for communication between internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Implement systems and best practices that enhance efficiency, reduce friction, and scale our operations.
  • Document project milestones and lessons learned to build organizational knowledge and inform future projects.
  • Drive high-impact housing projects that provide much-needed missing middle housing for our community.

Who You Are

  • High-Responsibility Operator: When handed a project, you own it like your life depends on it.
  • World Class Communicator: You can comprehend and cascade information and ideas up and down the value chain.
  • A Systems Thinker & Orchestrator: You’re comfortable coordinating multiple players, even without deep technical knowledge.
  • Humble, Hungry, and Smart: You know your limits, but you push them every day. You’re eager to learn and implement.
  • Personable & Resilient: You lead with confidence, manage relationships with care, and hold steady under pressure.
  • Highly Organized: You can juggle complex timelines, stakeholders, and documentation without dropping the ball.
  • Motivated by Impact: You want to make a difference—for yourself, your team, your company, and your city.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–6 years of professional experience in high-responsibility roles (hospitality, events, logistics, military, or similar).
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) required.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and drive outcomes in complex environments.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Technological fluency (comfortable with MS Office, digital tools; willing to learn construction software).
  • Bonus: Experience in AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) or familiarity with construction, permitting, or real estate is a plus but not required.

Why This Role?

  • High-Growth Opportunity: You’ll join a company poised for rapid growth and play a pivotal role in scaling our operations.
  • Leadership Track: This role is designed to grow into Development Manager within 3–5 years, with increasing ownership of projects and teams.
  • Meaningful Impact: Our projects aren’t just buildings—they’re homes and communities. You’ll help deliver high-impact Missing Middle housing.
  • Build a Business: You won’t just manage projects—you’ll help shape the processes, systems, and culture of a small, dynamic company.
  • Entrepreneurial Energy: We value initiative, creativity, and courage. This is a rare chance to lead and leave your mark.
