We are seeking a full-time, permanent translator or translation professional. The role involves accurately translating technical and non-technical documents from English to French to meet client needs and regulatory requirements.

  • Translate engineering reports accurately, adhering to FM's engineering standards. May include translating special projects such as engineering correspondence, brochures, etc., under the direction of the Deputy Head of the Translation and Localization Service.
  • Ensure translation accuracy through understanding technical content, utilizing technical databases, electronic dictionaries, and consulting with engineers or experts.
  • Provide quick translations of claims prevention reports and correspondence, meeting client standards using translation memory tools and databases.
  • Conduct research for terminology and content, perform self-review, corrections, and final proofreading.

Skills and qualifications

  • Fluent in English and French with impeccable writing skills.
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral communication in both languages.
  • Proficient with MS Office and translation software (SDLX is a plus).
  • Education

    Bachelor’s degree in translation or in progress.

    Proficiency in English is mandatory, as regular interactions with English-speaking stakeholders across Canada and the US are essential. Due to the volume of interactions, organizational restructuring to avoid this requirement is not feasible.
