Team Overview

  • You will be joining the Research Data team, the core of BCA Research.
  • This small team oversees all daily operations related to ingesting, cleaning, maintaining, and deploying research data sets that support over 50 researchers.
  • Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with macroeconomic and financial data vendors to ensure data quality, address gaps / discrepancies, and manage the research database.
  • Work with BCA Research teams to act as their trusted data advisor, vet new data sources, and fulfill research data needs.
  • Download new data series, map to internal codes, and organize metadata.
  • Assist researchers in locating necessary data across vendor databases.
  • Update existing data series as requested.
  • Review logs of automated processes, handle exceptions, and perform manual reviews when needed.
  • Maintain data quality by removing discontinued series, updating metadata, and mapping to alternative sources.
  • Automate manual processes where possible.
  • Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, finance, or economics (candidates actively pursuing such degrees may be considered).
  • 1-2 years of research experience preferred.
  • Experience managing large macroeconomic, financial, or market datasets.
  • Strong knowledge of economic indicators, financial markets, and data sources.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for managing time series databases.
  • Familiarity with statistical packages and financial applications.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to workflow improvements.
  • High emotional intelligence for vendor and team relationships.
  • Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
