Job Summary :

Under general supervision of the VFX Supervisor, the FX Supervisor reviews concept art, storyboards, and rough animation to plan, bid and execute the simulations and special effects needed for a project.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for establishing accurate bids, meeting schedules and show deadlines, participating in dailies and team reviews.
  • Participate actively in training and recruiting, helping to build an excellent team.
  • Simulate natural phenomenon by applying direct and procedural animation techniques to create a variety of effects.
  • Supervise and give input on 3D effects elements.
  • Supervise and communicate animation timing for effects to artists.
  • Assist in evaluation of artists for annual performance reviews.
  • Work with production team and VFX Supervisor to create the desired look for the effects.
  • Collaborate with the CG Supervisor and Technical Directors to design and improve the FX workflows and tools.
  • Collaborate with production, supervisors, and team to problem solve and share information related to show and assigned tasks.
  • Act as mentor and guide to team members.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, tools and technologies in visual effects to maintain the studio´s competitive edge.

Qualifications :

  • Degree / diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ production experience in film or television effects.
  • Thorough knowledge of 3D effects and simulation techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of Houdini and Maya required.
  • Compositing experience is a big plus.
  • Experience programming Python is required.
  • Project Management – proven ability in managing projects from concept to completion. Able to prioritize appropriately and always meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Teamwork – ability to assemble and motivate teams and work effectively with others.
  • Superb Written & Verbal Communication – Ability to interact with and integrate requests of directors, broadcasters, executives, clients, and team members in a collaborative way.
  • Vision – ability to envision and communicate clear and consistent goals and needs for projects, individuals, and the FX team.
  • Organization – demonstrated organizational skills including a keen attention to detail.
