Position : Senior / Financing Manager – TELP

Employment Type : Permanent

Compensation Details :

  • Underwriter 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location :

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3days per week.
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Laval, or Brossard.

    Team Overview :

    EDC’s Small Business & Partnerships (“SB&P”) group provides financing solutions in support of Canadian exports and foreign investments to :

  • Canadian exporters and their foreign customers;
  • Canadian investors and their foreign affiliates; and
  • Financial institutions.
  • Within SB&P, the International Financing Guarantees team is looking foranenthusiastic finance professional who workswell in a team environment, and enjoys interacting with colleagues, banks and clients on a regular basis.

    With the customer’s need always in view and in close collaboration with EDC’s Business Development, Legal Services, Environmental Social & Governance (“ESG”) plus our external banking partners, the successful candidate will be relied upon to understand the bank’s needs by orchestrating, enabling, and delivering on the Trade Expansion Lending Program (TELP), the reliance portfolio guarantee solution with over 1,500 obligors, 9 partner banks and 1.3 billion in exposure. Recognized for your abilities in quantitative and qualitative analysis, relationship management, communication, and initiative orchestration and management.

    What you will be doing :

  • Manages a portfolio of obligors / agreements / Financial institutions and leads and advises on complex, heightened asset management and monitor activities related to emerging credit / non-credit risks and / or changes to contract terms and provides recommendations to Management and / or Senior Management;
  • Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organizations change management program;
  • Contribute to the design and creation of reporting strategies and templates. Lead execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations;
  • Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and / or external resources to support in the delivering and business strategy and plans;
  • Provides coaching to other team members;
  • Completes assigned portfolio management activities for conventional obligors involving standard recurring asset management and monitoring activities;
  • Assists the business development team with on-going customer service throughout the transaction process;
  • Negotiates changes to the terms and structure of existing transactions and recommends these by assessing the risk of proposed solutions;
  • Collaborates on and advances management and improvement of various technology platforms / tools that facilitate operation of day to day for employees, customers and partners;
  • Understand and support the building of artifacts to mature the program management framework;
  • Provides on-going customer service and support to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the transactional process;
  • Understands financing issues, financial markets terminology and general lending / underwriting practices and, with moderate supervision, applies this knowledge to the mitigation process;
  • Working closely with Legal Services, drafts and / or reviews documents;
  • What we are looking for :

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
  • Completed an Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in financial services or relevant experience.
  • What will make you stand out :

  • Relevant experience in finance and / or IT sector
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in both official languages (French and English)
  • Knowledge of structuring / restructuring in commercial lending and / or loan portfolio management.
  • Strong project management experience and collaboration experience with internal / external stakeholders
  • Relevant experience in EDC products, more specifically IFG product solution suite, quantitative and qualitative analysis, marketing and program or project management
