Position : Research Analyst, Taxonomy

Location : Toronto, ON

Job Type : 6-month contract

Hours : Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET

Our client is searching for a Junior Research Analyst to join their Taxonomy team.

Responsibilities :

• Help curate and maintain standards for high quality catalog data.
• Become familiar with our internal taxonomy structure containing over 5,000 categories; gain deep understanding of category definitions.
• Review results for product categorization workflows to assess accuracy, this involves reviewing if the categories are correct, conducting external / internal research to validate the correct answer, and providing insights on areas for improvement.
• Curate catalog data and pilot data quality workflows internally, this could include fixing catalog errors for products (ex : fixing an incorrect categorization) or working on data labeling projects to improve catalog quality.
• Investigate and solve retailer tickets by investigating and solving catalog issues.

Requirements :

• Strong research skills and the diligence to inspect multiple sources.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in research or data annotation.
• Comfortable working with large data sets.
• Experience with taxonomies or data structures is a plus.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Excel experience and exposure to Excel commands and functions.
• Experience with SQL is a strong asset.
• Ability to learn new internal tools and processes quickly.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and is proactive / resourceful.
• Ability to innovate on manual processes, identify patterns, and find more efficient ways of implementing tasks.
• Team player.
• Strong communication skills (verbal + written).
