Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Plant Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for products and operations. Working closely with the operations team, their goal is to optimize processes while reducing production and scrap costs and maximizing equipment efficiency. They work with the R&D team to support new business opportunities.
Responsabilités
- Identify, develop and manage process improvement projects specifically aimed at improving operational efficiency (scrap, productivity, costs). This includes the continuous development and training of the required methods and procedures.
- Establish and maintain standard operational data
- Resolve day-to-day production and process issues, communicate with the department manager, supervisors, and operators regarding ongoing issues, investigate root causes, and recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with manufacturing and maintenance personnel to ensure consistent operation of equipment under prescribed conditions, once developed. Identify any of the following: configuration and execution of parameters; service intervals; and/or material specifications.
- Supervise testing and analyze and report results
- Design equipment modifications and make recommendations to resolve problems related to the work process.
- Maintain a database of machine specifications and capabilities, as well as raw material properties and backups
- Develop project justifications, ROI analysis, and appropriate project/capital requests in line with company policy.
- Find equipment suppliers and brokers for available machinery.
- Participate in the execution of all project work.
- Provide input to the capital expenditure budget forecast.
- Control the costs of capital projects within budgeted limits.
- Lead the management and implementation of security initiatives. Always act with safety at the forefront.
- Collaborate with the production department to coordinate downtime planning for equipment repairs or modifications.
- Assist in ensuring that HACCP, GMP, WORK INSTRUCTIONS, and Food Safety Quality System (SQF) requirements are compliant.
- Manage the OCS (Operation Clean Sweep) program
- Other duties as assigned
