Senior Credit Analyst - International Bank

As part of a broader operational transformation, a number of business functions have recently been relocated from the to Montreal — bringing new opportunities for local professionals. The organization is currently seeking a Senior Credit Analyst.
Title: Senior Credit Analyst
Location: Montreal
Work model: Hybrid, 2 days remote work allowed
Type of position: Full time and permanent
Salary: ?? + ??% bonus + 4 weeks’ vacation. They offer a great benefits package. RRSP matching, you contribute 2% and they contribute 8%.
Purpose: Responsible for processing credit requests and annual reviews with a primary focus on Power, Oil and Gas, Commodities Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare credit applications and perform credit analysis based on Front Office requests to issue independent risk opinions:
o Assess borrower creditworthiness through analysis of industry trends, market position, peer comparisons, financial statements, and financial projections.
o Evaluate transaction structures, legal documentation, and terms and conditions.
o Assign appropriate Basel risk parameters, including internal credit ratings and Loss Given Default (LGD).
o Prepare and present credit recommendations to the New York Credit Committee.
• Partner with Front Office teams to manage the transaction pipeline, evaluate risks and mitigants, and discuss commercial strategy and profitability.
• Coordinate with Head Office Risk teams to respond to information requests, support rating validations, and communicate emerging credit issues and market trends.
• Monitor assigned sectors and portfolios, providing risk updates and insights to senior management locally and at Head Office, while contributing to Early Warning and Special Asset Review (SAR) meetings.
• Support internal and external audits (FRB, SNC, Internal Audit), portfolio reviews, loan reviews, Risk Committee (USRC) activities, and special projects.
• Analyze counterparties across additional industry sectors as required to support team priorities and workload distribution.

Required:
• 10+ years of credit experience at a bank and/or a credit rating agencyStrong credit skills Balance sheet and income statement analysis experience Understanding of cash flow and projection models Understanding of risk exposure and size
• Credit analysis, financial modelling, legal documentation
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in sectors covered (Commodities Finance) is a strong plus.
• Analyze and summarize credit information
• Make presentations to Credit Committee and other constituents as needed
• Cooperate with local and international teams Prioritize workload effectively
• Be proactive, work independently and solve problems
• Work towards the goals highlighted in the bank’s strategy
