MAKING AN IMPACT
Reporting to the Vice President, Mass Marketing, the Director, Digital Fundraising will lead the digital annual and monthly giving portfolio including overseeing all conversion strategies for new and existing online revenue grow activities. The role will also oversee the end-to-end digital acquisitions and email segment conversion strategy within a test and scale methodology to achieve the five-year online growth goals.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organization with various operating teams to implement new online product and segment conversion strategies to increase the lifetime value of supporters and advance the Canadian Cancer Society’s mission. This position is ideal for a seasoned digital marketing and fundraising professional who enjoys building, leading and developing a highly motivated data-driven team, and thrives in a multi-faceted, results-oriented, and dynamic environment where one must elevate the digital-first mindset while managing in the realities of today.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Strategic Growth and Donor Acquisition
  • Work closely with the Vice President, Mass Marketing to execute the five-year growth plan with a focus on growing net-new donor acquisitions.
  • Build and manage new donor acquisitions budgets and liaise with performance/creative teams to operationalized search AI/Max tools and demand gen product/audience testing strategies.
  • Design and lead cost-effective pilots to renew and retain online Monthly and Annual giving segments.
  • Oversee and lead conversion strategies and omnichannel conversion testing to grow giving.
  • Digital Fundraising Optimization
  • Optimize existing digital flagship product offers and drive data-driven email strategies to renew, retain, upgrade, and convert existing donors to giving online within the integrated campaign framework.
  • Reimagine the email solicitation and omnichannel offer delivery through predictive targeting and optimized offer delivery.
  • Develop and manage the digital (revenue) fundraising roadmap and optimization plan.
  • Build a digital/mobile first departmental mindset and capacity to grow online giving.
  • Continually measure and report digital fundraising activities to scale actionable insights.
  • Monitor external digital marketing and e-Commerce to drive innovation and business increase revenue.
  • Ensure the organizational data, technology and privacy policies are enforced.
  • Operational Management and Collaboration
  • Protect the brand and deliver a best-in-class donor-centric experience measured through conversion, cost per acquisition, cost per dollar raised, revenue per user, retention, satisfaction, net-promoter score, and offline attribution.
  • Manage the operating revenue and expense budgets and ensure cost of fundraising targets are met. Manage consultants, agencies, and digital partners to support product, channel, segment, program, and campaign integration.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to elevate segment and platform conversion pilots to grow lifetime value. Share and leverage digital fundraising best practices to grow online donations.
  • Staff Management Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of four including retaining, recruiting, building capacity, and engaging staff and business partners to achieve the departmental and divisional strategic five-year revenue priorities.
  • Provide support and direction in the development, alignment, and accomplishment of digital fundraising objectives through ongoing weekly team meetings, one-on-one status meetings, performance feedback, recognition, and coaching.

Qualifications

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-graduate education in digital marketing, direct response or mass-marketing with a focus on online revenue and retention objectives.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with a strategic focus or combination of digital and revenue-focused experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Exceptional digital fundraising track record of success in conceptualizing and implementing innovative strategies and campaigns, with a focus on diversifying the product and segment mix while optimizing channel conversion and revenue per user/visit.
  • Professional presence with excellent communication, exceptional presentation skills, and proven experience driving digital growth and data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record to inspire, motivate and develop team members.
  • Demonstrated skills in direct marketing, direct response, strategic planning, data segmentation, product development, and monetizing segment/digital offerings.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management and analytical skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial management experience and oversight of the profit and loss statement for online revenue.
  • Excellent sector knowledge and understanding of the Canadian not–for–profit digital landscape.
  • Strong collaboration, prioritization and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in digital content and asset management, data segmentation, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Tableau, and MS Office an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization’s nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions.
