Job Overview The Senior Designer will play a critical role in driving growth for Fred David by developing and expanding the ladies' tops and dresses business. This is a highly hands-on role requiring a strong balance of creativity, merchandising acumen, and technical expertise. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and an execution-driven designer, capable of translating trends into commercially viable product while producing detailed technical sketches and overseeing development from concept to production Trend & Market Leadership •Conduct ongoing trend research and competitive analysis to inform product direction. •Translate seasonal trends into commercially relevant assortments. •Develop cohesive seasonal concepts, including color direction, key silhouettes, and fabrications. Design & Technical Execution •Create original designs for ladies’ tops and dresses, balancing fashion, cost, and customer requirements. •Produce detailed technical sketches (flats) in Adobe Illustrator, clearly communicating construction, proportions, stitching, and trim details. •Ensure all sketches and design packages are accurate and production-ready for overseas vendors. •Maintain strong attention to garment construction, fit, and finishing details throughout development. Qualifications & Skills •Proven experience in fashion design and product development within off-price/discounter divisions. •Demonstrated ability to identify trends, analyze white space, and develop commercially successful assortments. •Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required. •Must be highly skilled in creating detailed technical sketches (flats), including construction, stitching, and trim specifications. •Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and technical development processes. •Deep understanding of the full product lifecycle from concept to production. •Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability and cost constraints. •Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and international vendors.
