Position Title: Java Developer Location: Montreal, QC Work Model: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week) Contract Duration: June 1, 2026 to December 1, 2026 Compensation: $70 to $95 per hour About the Role We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to join a high performing technology team within the banking and financial services sector. This role focuses on building and enhancing backend systems that support critical investment banking applications. You will work in a collaborative environment delivering scalable and reliable solutions. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot - Build scalable and high performance applications supporting financial systems - Collaborate with cross functional teams including product, QA, and infrastructure - Participate in system design, code reviews, and technical discussions - Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on stability and performance - Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices Required Qualifications - 4+ years of experience in Java development with a strong backend focus - Hands on experience with Spring Boot and related frameworks - Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture - Experience working in banking, financial services, or investment banking environments - Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail Nice to Have - Experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies - Familiarity with CI CD pipelines and DevOps practices - Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ Work Environment - Hybrid model with 2 days onsite at Place Ville Marie, Montreal - Collaborative and fast paced team environment within the financial sector
