This role is a 6 months contract.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Regulatory Risk Advisory and Privacy, the Senior Advisor acts as a specialized advisor and subject‑matter resource in support of effective regulatory and privacy risk management. This position is part of the second line of defense.
Responsibilities
- Act as a specialized advisor in regulatory risk management for Laurentian Bank of Canada and its subsidiaries.
- Research, analyze and interpret applicable regulations; formulate regulatory risk management recommendations and prepare memoranda.
- Contribute to regulatory compliance through the review and analysis of internal and external documentation, including, as applicable, forms, procedures, training materials, marketing tools, websites and communications.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with business units and internal control functions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to the assigned scope of responsibility and monitor relevant regulatory trends and industry best practices.
- Legal education; lawyer, notary or paralegal designation (asset).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize and interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical implications.
- Sound professional judgment and the ability to formulate pragmatic, risk‑based recommendations.
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and operate effectively in complex or evolving environments.
- Strong organizational skills, rigor and the ability to manage multiple files concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of the banking or financial services sector, or a strong interest in this sector (asset), including mutual funds and securities.
- Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken (asset)
