Salary range (but not limited to):

149,600 - 182,800

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

We're looking for 2 Managers, Actuarial, to join our growing team!

As a Manager, Actuarial, your work will have a big impact on our Commercial Lines team. People will count on you to provide actuarial strategy aspects of a sound portfolio management in Commercial Lines, balance growth and profitability, develop strategic tools, and align with stakeholders within the actuarial department. The Actuarial Manager will demonstrate a solid understanding of actuarial concepts and strong communication skills.

Property and Liability Pricing Team: This team is responsible for pricing property and liability products, as well as implementing strategic initiatives to achieve our growth and profitability objectives.

New National Performance Monitoring Team: This team will be responsible for monitoring, harmonizing, and communicating performance tracking, including earnings calls, to various stakeholders across all commercial lines. The team will also be responsible for ensuring actuarial practice governance within the commercial teams.

What you'll do here:

  • Ensure the quality of operational actuarial deliverables, oversee daily activities by planning and dispatching work, promote teamwork and guide the training and development of team members.

  • Formulate appropriate recommendations after analyzing and interpreting the reports produced by actuarial analysts to improve the performance of products and services.

  • Manage performance reviews, training and coaching for group members in order to meet the company’s strategic objectives.

  • Manage your team’s activities by organizing, planning and controlling the optimal use of human, financial and material resources in accordance with company strategies and budget planning.

  • Manage the group members responsible for actuarial research and work (product pricing, reserves, financial projections, contribution to regulatory requirements, etc.) and provide them with technical advice.

  • Represent the Actuarial function on various company task forces and act as the point of contact for other business units.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Sciences, FCAS an asset.

  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience including at least 2 years in management or coaching.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of actuarial techniques.

  • Good strategic vision and facilitator of change.

  • Strong communication and influential skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Live and demonstrate the leadership success factors within Intact.

  • Building strategic working relationships.

  • Ability to generate engagement.

  • Bilingual (French / English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
