Senior Translator

What you’ll be working on
- Complete external and internal translations of a specialized nature (mainly from English to French) using a translation tool and proof documents in a timely manner, meeting all required deadlines.
- Ensure project accountability, with limited need for revision of translated or proofread documents.
- Provide revision of translated documents of a general and specialized nature.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the internal database through terminological research.
- Respond to various levels of inquiries from internal clients, external peers, and third-party providers.
- Confirm requisitions, distribute translation and proofing requests appropriately to the team, and maintain the department workflow application (Workfront) when necessary.
- Work closely with various teams to translate and localize creative content.
- Mentor, train, and guide more junior members of the team on translation, localization, branding, and client service questions and issues; serve as back-up to Manager, Linguistic Services when unavailable.
What we’re looking for you to have
- Completion of a university degree in translation.
- Completion of professional courses/designations an asset.
- 5+ years work experience as a translator, preferably in the insurance/financial services industry.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is mandatory.
- Knowledge of insurance, investment, finance, accounting, legal, medical, and information technology terminology.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Knowledge of publishing and collaborative software (Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InCopy/InDesign).
- Knowledge of translation tools (knowledge of Trados an asset).
- Well-developed organizational skills.
- Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects at once.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships.
- Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills.
- Clear writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- English is required for communicating with English-speaking customers, advisors, or employees across Canada.
