The Canadian Hepatitis C Network (CanHepC) is currently seeking a full-time Research Manager for a one year maternity leave replacement.

CanHepC is a national hepatitis C virus research and training network funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

CanHepC brings together over than 100 members, including researchers and student trainees from different scientific disciplines and organizations with a hepatitis C mandate from across Canada, as well as international partners.

Our network's mission is to improve the health of people living with hepatitis C, by bridging the gap between research evidence, practice and policy while building research capacity.

CanHepC includes a comprehensive research program structured around two specific areas each with underlying themes as well as transversal platforms, including our training, education and mentoring program.

CanHepC also organizes each year the Canadian Hepatitis C Virus Symposium, a national research conference as well as an annual members' meeting.

Functioning as core member of the Secretariat of CanHepC, the Research Manager is accountable for the planning and implementation of daily network activities and the ongoing management of the overall program.

The Research Manager provides key research, management and administrative support to the Network Co-Directors and Executive Committees and handles external liaison with funding agencies and other stakeholders.

This position involves a range of responsibilities, including monitoring project progress, preparing financial and progress reports, budgeting, knowledge mobilization and internal and external communication.

Working closely with the CanHepC Training Program Lead, the Research Manager is responsible for planning the annual meeting and will report to CanHepC co-Directors.

Responsabilités

  • Monitor project progress of and maintain a good communication with committees, and working group leads, as well as research teams and staff assigned to projects / initiatives as needed.
  • Collect, write and prepare progress, financial and budgetary reports as well as presentations and other official network documents.
  • Supervise the appropriate allocation of funds, prepare interinstitutional transfer agreements and ensure financial monitoring.
  • Initiate and facilitate the start of projects including the organization of meetings, carrying out follow-ups and preparing the required documentation and tools (concept sheet, survey, internal monitoring documents, model budgets, protocols, etc.).
  • Support the governance structure of the Network including the planning, organization and monitoring of meetings of the various committees (steering committee, finance committee, scientific committee and the annual meeting in particular).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for collaborators and members: resolving issues / queries, providing support and identifying opportunities.
  • Develop recommendations and action plans to resolve issues affecting the achievement of the Network objectives in collaboration with the Co-Directors.
  • Support the Network's hepatitis C knowledge mobilization and awareness strategy by working with stakeholders to organize related activities / initiatives.
  • Draft written communications, support letters, emails and newsletters intended for network members and external stakeholders, which involves synthesizing a high volume of complex information.
  • Maintain the CanHepC website and participate in promoting research on our social media platforms.

Qualifications

  • Degree in life sciences or another relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in an academic research environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at different stages.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments and ability to interact, engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to effectively and clearly synthesize (verbally and in writing) complex information, recommendations and summaries to superiors.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and implement new initiatives in support of the Network's goals and objectives.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and reliably, prioritize workloads and be productive in a remote environment.
  • A perfect command of English and French, both written and spoken, is necessary for this position.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Zoom, Website CMS.
  • One trip per year will be necessary to attend national research meetings.
  • Prior knowledge of the infectious diseases field would be a major asset.

Avantages compétitifs

Full-time position, 35 hours per week, daytime Monday to Friday. Salary range between $28 and $52.28 per hour to commensurate with experience and consistent with CRCHUM compensation policy.

This is a maternity leave replacement: one-year to 13 months contract starting in late November or beginning of December 2024.

The candidate will have the possibility of working remotely provided they have reliable, high-speed internet access or in person at the CRCHUM.
