About the Role
The BI Developer will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge business intelligence solutions. Utilizing data analytics platforms, reporting tools, and visualization techniques, you will be responsible for transforming raw data into meaningful insights, fueling informed business decisions. With your solid background in data analysis and strong technical skills in database management systems and BI technologies, you will translate business needs into technical specifications. This role reports directly to the Data Strategy Lead and will work closely with other teams such as business insights, information technology, and therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and business stakeholders, to gather requirements and understand the needs for data visualization projects.
- Establish development standards by implementing development and deployment best practices to ensure consistency across BI solutions.
- Design, develop and maintain interactive and visually engaging BI solutions, such as dashboards in Power BI and applications using Power Apps.
- Assess and design the Power BI governance framework and management structure across the organization in collaboration with the Data Governance Manager.
- Write optimized SQL queries to efficiently retrieve data and develop robust data models that support dynamic and scalable reporting solutions.
- Design Alteryx / Dataiku workflows for data preparation, data cleaning, and integration, allowing seamless automation from Snowflake to Power BI.
- Develop and implement training programs, dashboard templates, and coaching sessions to help end users master the BI solutions.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data visualization and recommend innovative approaches to enhance data presentation and storytelling.
Minimum Requirements :
- A minimum of 4 years as a BI Developer or similar role.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Power BI (DAX) development and administration, and experience with data analysis, data visualization best practices, and storytelling techniques.
- Strong experience with ETL tools (Alteryx, Dataiku), SQL, Power Apps, and Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with knowledge of systems and data sources used.
- Bilingual: English and French.
