Job Description

Job Summary :

Scientific Developer (permanent)

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a talented Scientific Developer to join our Engineering team in the Laval, Quebec office.

As a member of the software and system team, you will participate in developing advanced signal processing algorithms related to target detection, localization and classification.

You will also be involved in several system aspects of radar development such as system modeling, system requirements validation and performance assessment, and radar calibration.

You will work closely with system specialists to identify promising development avenues as well as with software developers for porting algorithms in the embedded software or PC application.

You will participate in radar system validations on our different radar models, whether in the engineering lab, anechoic chamber or at an outdoor test site .

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

Develop algorithms, equations and / or methods, required for or related to specific software or firmware components (Matlab, Python and C++).

Analyze and validate performances of various system aspects such target detection, location, classification.

Problem analysis, literature review, trade-off study.

Mathematical modeling, algorithm design and prototype implementation (Matlab and C++).

Use and improve Matlab development and simulation tools.

Participate in the gathering and analysis of experimental data recorded in field tests.

Participate in software development, testing and integration.

Ensure that the allocated algorithm requirements are met in terms of technical specifications, costs and schedule.

Comply with the FLIR Quality Management System and Engineering processes.

Job Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent. Graduate degree is an asset.
  • Experience : More than 3 years in algorithm development, digital signal processing and / or systems engineering.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Good knowledge of C++ and Matlab
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of French and English
  • Experience with Python (asset)
  • Experience with machine learning or AI / CNN (asset)

Eligible to be certified to examine, possess, and transfer items under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and legally authorized to work in Canada
