The Character Surfacing Artist partakes in the creation of the characters look under the supervision of the Look Dev Supervisor.
He relies on both strong technical skills and an aesthetic sense to produce high quality images that are true to the style of the film.
He is responsible for the creation of the characters textures and materials.
Create the final look of characters and props and provide the necessary nuances to achieve the desired look
Create textures and materials based on concepts and references
Create UVs and texturing that meet shader and look needs
Create shading networks for specific assets
Previous experience in Look Dev in animation
Excellent understanding of lighting, colours, textures and materials
Strong command of Katana and Arnold (or equivalent)
Knowledge of Maya and Substance Painter
Good interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Attention to detail
Curiosity and interest for technical challenges
Knowledge of Mari
Knowledge in procedural texturing and sculpt
